Mastering the Complexity of the Multidimensional Matrix
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 • 11:00am to 12:30pm (Eastern)
Presented by: Dr. Jay Galbraith
Today companies are doing business using at least a three dimensional matrix consisting of functions, business units and countries. While most companies have mastered the two dimensional matrix of functions and business units, the three and four dimensional ( customers) structures are a real challenge. As with all matrix organizations, the structure is the easy part. The key to mastering complexity lies in the design of processes and HR practices. Indeed, the more complex the structure, the more important are the processes. The session will emphasize the planning process leading to shared goals and objectives and the importance of rotational assignments. I will give examples of what are the best practices that are emerging.
